HerStory is YourStory: A can-do approach to art music, movement and creativity in the face of physical and mental adversity. Join us at Springhill Senior Living, 2323 Edinboro Road at 6:30 PM for a screening of the award winning documentary, “HerStory,” an opera film featuring the creative talents of 85 people living with Parkinson’s. The piece incorporates music, libretto, choreography and visual art co-created with members of the UK Parkinson’s community in a series of projects that began back in 2019. In the words of the original cast, the aim of the piece was ‘to show the world what people with Parkinson’s can do.’ After watching the documentary, we will be joined by Music Therapists Brittany Barko Krugger, MT-BC, NMTand Nathan Demarest, MT- BC, who will be presenting “Music Therapy: A Journey of Sound and Healing” to give you some ideas on how you can add music to your journey with PD so you can also “show the world what people with Parkinson’s can do! To make it a real night out, we will finish the evening with a cocktail party featuring beer, wine and delicious appetizers. There is no cost to attend but reservations are required by April 21st.
